BSE benchmark Sensex soared 317.81 points, or 0.51 per cent to close at 62,345.71, while broader NSE Nifty50 rose 84.05 points, or 0.46 per cent to end at 18,398.85.It’s a come-and-go trend that, while spiking in the pandemic’s wake, traces its roots as far back as the American industrialists of the 19th-century Gilded Age and France in the 1700s. And retailers are taking note, as are more designers looking to capture not only the rich but their wannabes, too.Credit Suisse announced the agreement before the Swiss stock market opened, sending shares up as much as 33% before they settled at a 25% gain, to 2.13 francs, in midday trading. That was a massive turnaround from a day earlier, when news that the bank’s biggest shareholder will not inject more money into Credit Suisse sent its shares tumbling 30%, dragging down other European banks. European banking stocks also rose modestly Thursday.
