Renowned Batik artist Yasala Balaiah, 81 breathed his last in Hyderabad on Wednesday. The artist, believed to be a close associate of Telangana Chief Minister K Chandrasekhar Rao, rose to fame for his paintings that depicted the newly-formed state’s rural culture. Earlier today, the CM also took to Twitter to condole his passing away and said that Balaiah’s death was a “loss” to the art world.

A division bench of Acting Chief Justice Manmohan and Justice Manmeet Pritam Singh Arora on Tuesday noted submissions of the Centre’s counsel that, “other than government bodies, no private body was heard before the (March 12) circular was issued”. “Since it is not possible to give an oral hearing to each and every dog owner, this court directs that respondents shall issue a public notice on its website as well as one national daily, inviting objections to the proposed draft notification/ amendment to the rules,” directed the bench.

“The legalities surrounding surrogacy are a topic of discussion. There is already an issue over the egg cells. As per the rules, an adult married woman aged between 21 and 35 years can donate her egg with the permission of her parents or husband. We will ask the director of medical services to inquire whether they (Vignesh Sivan and Nayanthara) followed due process,” the minister said on Monday in response to a journalist who asked whether the couple had registered with the health department.
