Taiwanese PC maker Acer has become the first company to launch its Windows Mixed Reality (MR) headset in the Indian market.  Other than Acer, a slew of PC makers including Dell, Asus, HP and Lenovo are already selling Windows Mixed Reality (MR) headsets in a number of markets including the US. All these headsets are designed to work with Windows 10-powered machines. Magic Leap, a mysterious augmented reality start-up, has announced its first product. It’s called Leap One, an augmented reality-based smart glasses. The device takes advantage of the company’s digital lightfield technology, which merges the digital world with the real world. Magic Leap One will release in 2018 in the form of a Creator Edition, though the company did not give any price or release. The Florida-based start-up says the headset can be used by developers to create unique experiences.

Samsung has rolled out iOS apps for its Gear smartwatches and Gear Fit 2, making the devices compatible with iPhone. The two new iOS apps work on Samsung Gear S2 and S3 smartwatches as well as the Gear Fit 2 fitness tracker. Up till now, Samsung Gear S2 and Gear S3 were only compatible with Android smartphones. But they’ll now work with iPhone as well. Samsung had first announced that its wearable Gear devices will be compatible with iPhone early last year.

Actor Jitendra Kumar, who became a sensation after starring in several TVF series, will soon grace the small screen with Amazon Prime Video’s Panchayat Season 2.

A report by environmental group Oceana has found that plastic waste from Amazon packages went up by 18% last year, but Amazon says it has reduced its use of single-use plastic across its network. According to the Oceana’s estimates, released Thursday, Amazon’s plastic waste jumped from 599 million pounds in 2020 to 709 million pounds last year — an amount that can circle the planet more than 800 times in the form of air pillows, the group said.

One of the accused, Sanjay Mandal, was arrested from a fishery in Nazat area, and the other, Ali Hossain Gharami, from Minakhan, both in North 24 Parganas district.
