The incident was triggered by the leakage of harmful Methyl isocyanate (MIC) gas from a Union Carbide pesticide plant in the city, and killed over 2,000 people and affected more than 6,00,000 workers and nearby inhabitants.FEFKA Directors’ Union confirmed the news about Ashokan’s demise on its Facebook page, while sharing its condolences. Ashokan began his career in movies by assisting late filmmaker J. Sasikumar. After seven years of learning the craft of storytelling under Sasikumar’s supervision, Ashokan ventured out on his own in the late 1980s. He made his directorial debut in 1989 with Varnam. And he later helmed a handful of movies in the early 90s, which gained him commercial and critical success. He frequently collaborated with actor Suresh Gopi.Dabur India said the company “reported a strong growth in its performance for the second quarter of 2020-21, backed by sustained efforts in driving demand for its ayurvedic healthcare, hygiene and nutrition products, coupled with strong innovation to meet the emerging consumer needs in the wake of the COVID pandemic”.
