A local court in Mirzapur has sentenced six policemen, including a station house officer, to five years of imprisonment for falsely showing recovery of cannabis during a raid at a house in Vindhyachal area in 1992. A woman had allegedly died by suicide by setting herself on fire after police and tried to take her away.

These are two casual vacancies in the state legislative council by the members of the Legislative Assembly.
