On March 14, Kushal Pal Singh, a resident of Raj Nagar Extension in Ghaziabad, was surfing videos related to share trading on his phone when a pop-up ad promising astronomical returns in lieu of investment caught his attention. Singh contacted the number provided and soon found himself added to different WhatsApp groups and downloaded a few share-trading apps. Guided by the group members, he transferred money in different bank accounts. Meanwhile, the app on his phone continued reflecting a higher return against his investment.
